Today on the show we had a caller who stated that the 2008 (latest available) Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the City of Midland (COM) was available at the public library. However I did find it online at the COM website. Let us know what you find! OK, I have had it with these self indulgent, race baiters who see the world through the prism of race. We've been telling taxpayers for years that local government spending and debt are going to sneak up on us and be the proverbial "straw that breaks the camel's back" and now it so bad that a news outlet was forced to write a critical article of a taxing entity growing beyond its means. As a bonus our good friend Peggy Venable is quoted extensively in the article and as always make several brilliant points. The Texas Legislature's 81st Session was one of missed opportunities; so much was simply not done that should have been. Not only did lawmakers fail to provide much-needed additional property tax relief, they didn't provide substantial reforms to the property tax appraisal system and failed to permanently address the shortcomings in the business tax.
